There’s been a wonderful last minute, quick decision by contractors Harrison Walling and Fencing, Hexhamshire Parish Council and Northumberland Highways!
The bridge at Dalton is known as the Blue Bridge despite it being painted both green and grey in recent years. Apparently locals kept asking the contractors restoring the metal bridge what colour they were due to paint it. So they did their research, contacted their bosses and heyho- the Blue Bridge is now its original colour!! What cooperation between community, contractors and authorities!
The narrow bridge is a real challenge for many vehicles. When it was bought second hand from Weardale in the 1950s it was shorter than expected so had to be installed with acute bends on both entry and exit. Consequently, this bridge is well known, well loved, and at last …. well named!heck this page for details of upcoming events
