Whitley Chapel Young Farmers

Who are Whitley Chapel Young Farmers?

Whitley Chapel Young Farmers are a youth club for anyone between the ages of 10 – 26. You don’t have to be a farmer to be in Young Farmers! We are one of 10 clubs within the Northumberland Federation.

What we do

Young Farmers offer the chance to be involved in a large number of competitions, both farming and non farming based. Competitions include: pantomime/drama/entertainment competition, stockjudging, pool, darts, quoits, rounders, volley ball, various speaking competitions and many more. The biggest day on the YFC calendar is the rally. The rally is hosted by one of the 11 clubs within the county and involves a wide range of competitions, such as cooking, building, running, tug of war, eating and singing.

As well as being a charity ourselves we also put a lot of time and effort into raising money for charities and helping within the community. For example our annual carol singing nights help to raise considerable funds for a designated local charity. We are also closely involved with Slaley show and the County show, helping with the set up and activities on the day.
There is no doubt that there is a great social aspect to Young Farmers. We are all good friends and have the feel of an extended family.

Young Farmers is not all about competition, we arrange many social activities through out the year including: Go-karting, paintballing, ice-skating, dinner dances and many more.

Why you should get involved

Young Farmers is a great way to meet new people and get to know people in the local area. It is also an opportunity to meet people from all over the county as well as further afield, with national competitions taking us as far as Torquay! Young Farmers helps you gain essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving and many more along the way. Young Farmers is a great confidence builder and allows young people to get involved in activities they may not have had the opportunity to do before.

How to get involved

Meetings are on most Wednesday nights at Whitley Chapel Village Hall, 7:30pm start.
